The day started early, before dawn, but what an amazing experience! I had the rare opportunity to photograph an open heart surgery as it was happening. I cannot say enough good things about the surgeons and medical staff who were assisting. They were all very professional and caring, and welcomed my presence throughout the procedure. As you will see from these photos, I was given nearly unlimited access. But, since a picture is worth a thousand words, here are a few photos from today.
